HMAC Organizational Structure

Mission
To support the activities and undertakings of HMAC as stated in it's mission statement, and consistent with the policies of the respective County Boards of Chosen Freeholders, and of the New Jersey State Police Office of Emergency Management. The Communication Committee is dedicated to: Examining communication capabilities of county, municipal and industrial facilities; Comparing results of such examinations in an effort to determine whether standards can be established, and whether such standards should vary depending upon type of facility; Establishing and maintaining liaison with New Jersey State Police and other related security Communications; Keeping abreast of new technologies in communications to the greatest extent possible, and disseminating information so acquired to all interested parties; and Providing training in communications procedures when requested.

Emergency Planning & Response Committee
Mission
Identify local and regional emergency response planning and training needs. Develop projects to fill needs and address issues. Provide technical assistance and services to private and public organizations in the area of hazardous materials emergency planning and response. Provide a forum for members to share knowledge and experience on matters pertaining to emergency planning, vulnerability analysis and LEPC administration. Provide for coordination of emergency response organizations.

Mission
To issue quarterly Advisor newsletters highlighting the accomplishments of the various HMAC committees as well as current issues relating to the overall mission of HMAC. Develop and update the HMAC display booth to reflect HMAC's goals and participate in various related conferences. Provide public relations to support the HMAC exercises via press releases, press conferences and press kits.

Mission
Provide a forum for public and private sector interests to discuss regulatory issues and concerns in a non- adversarial environment. Provide a resource to the public sector and smaller companies on regulatory issues. Plan and conduct seminars on relevant environmental statutory and regulatory developments for HMAC members and the general public within Union and Middlesex Counties.

Hazmat Seminar 1998
Mission
Identify training needs and issues in the areas of emergency response, emergency planning, and accident prevention concerning hazardous materials. Provide training modules and aids for all responders having training needs. Work with NJSP to support their involvement with hazardous materials and homeland security issues. Coordinate and liaison with the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of Counterterrorism for training communications and awareness.

Emergency Responder Dispatcher Video Training Module
Identify needs and issues in the areas of emergency response, emergency planning and accident prevention concerning hazardous materials transportation. Report on regulations affecting Haz Mat Transportation. Develop seminars and workshops relative to the needs of the HMAC transportation community. Offer regulatory interpretation of proposed rulemaking for consideration by HMAC members only.
We are always looking for new members to share in ideas and information. The committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Rahway OEM located in the basement of Rahway City Hall.
If you are interested in attending a meeting to help develop ideas for seminars, exchange information and interpretations on regulations, etc., please call Kerry Slavin at (732) 431-5445 who notify you of the next committee meeting. All are welcome to attend. There is no fee. HMAC dues are given voluntarily from companies and associations and are not a prerequisite for becoming a committee member.For More Information
